Education

Mr Lovelock graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1985 – MBBS

(Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery)

Specialist Training

Mr Lovelock achieved his FRACS qualifications in 1993 and proceeded on to the Australian Vascular Training Programme, completing that successfully in 1995.

Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons

In 1993 Mr Lovelock earned his FRACS distinction and in 1995 was recognised as a Specialist Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon.

The distinction is only awarded to specialist  surgeons who have completed a minimum of 12 years medical and surgical education, with at least 5 years of specialist postgraduate training.

Current Appointments

Mr Lovelock currently holds public hospital appointments both at St Vincent’s Hospital, Western Health and at Eastern Health Box Hill, where he is Director of Vascular Services as well as being head of the Vascular Unit at Eastern Health Box Hill. He also operates at Epworth Hospital in Richmond and Mulgrave Private Hospital in Mulgrave for privately insured patients.

Previous Specialist Appointment

In 1996 he undertook a year as a clinical instructor at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.

He returned to practice in Australia in 1997.

Areas of Special Interest

He has a wide range of interests in vascular disease including the treatment of both arterial and venous conditions. He has a wide range of experience in endovascular intervention in arterial disease and specialises in:

  • Endovascular aneurysm repair
  • Bypass surgery for arterial disease
  • Angioplasty and stenting of arterial blockages
  • Carotid endarterectomy
  • Open surgery for aortic aneurysm repair.
